With that being said, Dr. Hill wants to begin a discussion on your dietary choices and how they can affect your overall and oral health. Properly brushing, flossing, using mouthwash, and visiting the dentist is a tremendous start to good oral health. However, your dietary choices still play a role in your oral health.
Below, Dr. Hill offers a few food options that will benefit the health of your teeth and gums:

Carrots
Saliva is one of our best, most natural, defenses against tooth decay and other oral health problems. When you consume carrots, your salivary glands will be stimulated and you will produce more and more saliva.

Celery
Similar to carrots, celery helps to stimulate your salivary glands. This stimulation is attributed to how crunchy and chewy celery is. In addition to this, due to its texture, celery will clean your teeth as you chew.

Pineapple
Pineapples contain an enzyme called bromelain. Bromelain works to break down proteins which cause cavities, discoloration, plaque and tartar. Pineapple can also make your teeth more aesthetically pleasing. That is because they work to naturally whiten your teeth.
We hope that this first post was beneficial to your oral health knowledge. In our next blog post, we will continue this discussion, and provide some additional foods that can improve your oral health.
